With SharePoint search being as powerful as it is, it makes more sense to store as much information in SharePoint to have a one stop location for finding all of your content. However, as the volume of content increases, so will the number of results in a search. To assist with reducing down large searches into a more tangible selection of results, refinements can be used to select more relevant content. There are different types of refinements which will be detailed below. To access your refinements, firstly conduct a content or people search and then follow these steps:
Within a search results page, click on a filter on the left side of the page for example, Result Type Word |
More than one filter can be added at a time to further refine results |
Most refinements can simply be clicked however the modified date has a slider to refine the date in which the content was last modified. The slider can be adjusted by using both the left and right sliders. |
